Privacy Policy

Bearwerks is operated by Bearwerks, LLC (“Bearwerks,” “we,” or “us”). This policy covers the Bearwerks workout-tracking app, bearwerks.com, our invitation-only TestFlight beta, and information you send to us.

Privacy at a glance

  • Your training data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a workout-data cloud-sync backend or automatically receive your workout history.
  • You choose whether to export and share files or send us a diagnostic log.
  • Support messages and attachments you send are received by Bearwerks.
  • Apple separately collects and shares TestFlight beta crash and usage information, as explained below.
  • Website hosting and spam prevention involve technical processing.
  • RevenueCat is not installed in the current app and is not currently used for its subscription processing.

1. Information stored on your device

Bearwerks stores information used for workout tracking, including your display name and preferences; exercises, activities, supersets, circuits, and workouts; weights, repetitions, holds, and timing; and workout history, personal records, and progress information. It may also store local creator information used for sharing and import handling.

A local display name is not a Bearwerks online account. We do not automatically receive your training data. The current app has no advertising or social feed and does not connect to Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect.

2. Sharing, exports, and backups

You decide whether to export or share information. .bws files share exercises and workouts. .bwk files provide backup and restore and may include your profile, settings, saved training content, and workout history.

Shared files may include creator information such as a display name or creator identifier. Review files before sharing them. Backup files are readable and are not encrypted by the app; store them securely.

If you send or save an export using email, messaging, device sharing, or a storage service, your chosen recipient or service receives it under its own privacy practices. Bearwerks does not automatically receive a copy. Deleting data in the app does not delete exports or recipients’ copies.

Depending on device settings and the app’s backup configuration, operating-system backups may contain app data. These are separate from Bearwerks cloud synchronization and are managed through your device or backup provider. Restoring a backup can restore previously deleted information.

3. Diagnostic logs and bug reports

Bearwerks diagnostic logs contain technical information intended to troubleshoot problems and are intended not to include workout history or personal training content. These app-generated logs remain local unless you deliberately export and send or upload them. This is separate from Apple’s automatic TestFlight reporting described in Section 4.

You can report a bug without a log. Review logs before sending them and remove information you do not want to share. Do not send workout backups, passwords, payment-card details, medical records, or private training information with a routine bug report.

Our bug-report form accepts an optional .txt diagnostic log up to 2 MB. Upload processing involves a server copy, and the report and attachment are emailed to bugs@bearwerks.com. Email copies remain until deleted under our retention practices. We use submitted information to investigate issues and respond to you.

4. TestFlight beta testing

Our current TestFlight beta is invitation-only and intended for adults in the United States. When you test through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and app-usage information and makes information available to Bearwerks. This can include device and operating-system details, app versions, installation and session information, and crashes. Email invitations can also make your name and email address visible to us.

If you submit TestFlight feedback, Apple shares your comments, any screenshots you submit, and associated technical information with us. Avoid including private training information in feedback or screenshots unless you deliberately want to share it.

We use this information to administer the beta, investigate bugs, improve Bearwerks, and respond to feedback. We do not use it for advertising or share TestFlight information with third parties. TestFlight reporting is separate from Bearwerks’ local workout storage and voluntary diagnostic-log exports.

Apple controls collection and retention within TestFlight. Apple states that it retains beta feedback for one year and may retain crash and usage data until bugs are resolved. Our handling of copies we download is described in Section 9. Read Apple’s TestFlight & Privacy notice. 5. Support and other messages

When you contact us through a form or email, we receive your email address, message, any name you provide, and any attachments or details you choose to include. Bug reports may include your platform, app version, device, and operating system.

We use this information to respond, investigate bugs, consider feature suggestions, handle business or privacy inquiries, and maintain necessary records. Sending a request does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

6. Website services, security, and cookies

GoDaddy provides our website hosting and email services. Hosting and security services may process IP addresses, request times, requested pages, browser information, and security events to deliver the website, troubleshoot errors, and prevent abuse. See GoDaddy’s Privacy Notice.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile for spam and automated-abuse prevention. It processes technical signals such as IP address, browser and connection information, and website origin. Cloudflare also processes signals to improve bot detection. Turnstile may load on website pages even when a form is not displayed. This processing is separate from locally stored workout data. See the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

We do not use advertising or optional analytics cookies on this website. A visitor cookie scan conducted for Bearwerks on September 21, 2026 detected no cookies in the pages and conditions tested. That result does not mean that no technical information is processed. WordPress uses cookies for administrator sign-in and settings; browser storage and security behavior can differ with the functions used and verification conditions. We have no RevenueCat website integration.

7. Subscriptions and RevenueCat

RevenueCat is planned for future subscription infrastructure but is not installed in the current app. The current app therefore does not send information to RevenueCat through a RevenueCat integration. We will update this policy to describe the actual information processed before enabling that integration. Future subscription pricing or features are not established by this policy.

8. When information is disclosed

Website hosting, security, and email providers process information as needed to supply those services. Files you deliberately share are disclosed to your selected recipients. TestFlight information is handled as described in Section 4.

We do not sell personal information, use support messages for advertising, or disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose relevant information when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect people or systems, or establish or defend legal claims, subject to applicable restrictions.

9. Retention

Local app data remains under your control through the app’s data-management controls. Manage exported files and device backups separately.

  • Diagnostic attachments and working copies: we delete them within 30 days after the related issue is resolved or closed. We review unresolved cases every 90 days for continued need. This also applies to beta crash logs we download from TestFlight.
  • Routine correspondence and downloaded beta feedback: we delete or anonymize these within 12 months after the request is closed.
  • Feature suggestions: we remove contact details within 12 months of the last correspondence and may retain a de-identified feature summary.
  • Privacy requests: we retain the minimum record needed to handle the request, demonstrate our response, and meet applicable legal obligations.

A documented legal or security need may require longer retention of relevant records. Hosting/security logs and provider backup copies are subject to the applicable provider’s retention and backup cycles, which can differ from deletion of our active mailbox or working copies. The periods above do not promise deletion from Apple’s systems or every provider backup at the same time.

10. Your choices and requests

Use the app’s editing and deletion controls to manage local data. Removing a saved workout or exercise does not necessarily remove its historical records; use the relevant history controls too. We cannot remotely retrieve or delete data stored only on your device or in your personal backups.

For information you have sent to us or that we receive through TestFlight, contact privacy@bearwerks.com. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where applicable, and complain to a privacy regulator. Rights can be subject to lawful exceptions. We may request proportionate information to locate records and verify a request. Do not send a workout backup just to make a privacy request.

11. Age and location

The current invitation-only TestFlight beta is for US adults. The Bearwerks app is intended for teens and adults, not children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate steps to remove it.

Bearwerks is based in the United States. Information you send to us may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws may differ from those in your location. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide requested services, pursue legitimate interests in support and security, comply with legal obligations, or with consent where required. This policy does not override rights provided by applicable law.

12. Security

Website form submissions use HTTPS. Email delivery, storage, and exported files involve separate systems; do not assume that ordinary email or exported files provide end-to-end encryption. Protect your device and exports with appropriate access controls. No electronic service can guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes and contact

We will update this policy as our practices change, revise its effective date, and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required before new processing begins.
